Mnemo Privacy Policy (Beta)
Mnemo is a personal memory assistant that keeps your notes, photos, contacts, schedule and call memos on your own device and helps you organise them. This document explains what leaves your device and what does not, in the beta (Google Play internal test).
1. What stays on your device only
The following is stored only on your device (in the app's private storage) and is never stored by the operator (some of it passes through the relay for AI processing — see section 2).
- Note text, call memos, to-dos, schedule entries, search terms
- Originals and previews of photos and files (the app does not copy the original file; it remembers where it is)
- Contacts (only if you run "Import contacts" from the device address book)
- Face recognition results in photos (face features are computed and stored only on the device and never leave it by any route, including backup)
- Photo location coordinates themselves (see section 2 for how a place name is obtained from them)
- Access tokens for the Google / Microsoft accounts you connect
Uninstalling the app deletes all of the above.
2. What leaves the device for AI processing and place names
When you use an AI feature — summarising, classifying, searching, generating an answer — the text and (downsized) photos needed for that feature are sent through the operator's relay server to the OpenAI API.
Depending on the feature, this may include the names and other fields of contacts you imported, calendar entries, the body of e-mails you import, text extracted from attached files, and your search terms. Each is processed only for that request; it is stored on your device alone (section 1).
Overseas transfer notice. Because the AI provider and the place-name service are outside Korea, the transfer is described here as required by Korean law (Personal Information Protection Act, art. 28-8). By ticking the consent box on the app's welcome screen you agree to this transfer. You can withdraw by not using AI features and uninstalling the app; without this consent the AI features cannot be offered.

Transfer takes place at the moment you use the feature, over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) via the operator's relay server.
When a photo you add carries location coordinates (EXIF), those coordinates only are sent through the same relay server to LocationIQ to obtain a place name (e.g. "Busan, South Korea"). The app never reads the device's current location; it only uses what is already inside the photo file. There is no setting for this, and nothing is sent for photos without coordinates.
- The relay server does not store or log what is sent — neither text, photos nor coordinates. All that remains on the server is the call type (chat / photo / embedding / place name), the count and the token count, aggregated per anonymous number (e.g. A01).
- Your installation is identified only by a random token, which is not linked to your invite code, e-mail or name.
- OpenAI does not use data received through its API to train its models and processes it under its own policies (openai.com/policies). LocationIQ processes coordinates under its own policy (locationiq.com/privacy).
- If you do not use AI features and add no photos with coordinates, nothing is sent.
3. Usage statistics and crash reports
To improve the app we collect the following anonymously. Your content — notes, names, search terms — is never included.
- Usage statistics (Firebase Analytics): which features were used and how often (e.g. search started, to-do completed). The advertising identifier is not collected.
- Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics): when the app crashes, the error type, code location, app version and device model. The app filters error messages so that your content is not sent along.
4. External accounts you choose to connect
Connecting is optional, and data fetched from a connected account is stored only on your device.
- Google: read Gmail (import mail), read / write Calendar events, Google Drive (backup — stored in your own Drive; photo originals are not backed up), your account e-mail address
- Microsoft: read Outlook mail, read / write Calendar events
You can disconnect in the app's Settings or in each account's security settings.
5. App permissions
- Read contacts: used only when you run "Import contacts"
- Photos and files: used only when you attach a photo or file to a note
- Location stored inside photos (media location): read only from photos you pick inside the app, to obtain a place name (section 2). The device's current location is never read.
- Notifications, exact alarms, boot completed: used to show schedule reminders on time
- Internet: used for the transfers described in sections 2–4
6. Retention and deletion
- Data on your device: deleted when you uninstall the app. Delete Drive backups yourself in Google Drive.
- Anonymous usage aggregates on the server: deleted within 90 days after the beta ends.
- Sign-up e-mail address (see section 8): deleted within 90 days after the beta ends, or on request.

7. Other
- This app is not directed at children under 14.
- If this policy changes, this page and the notice inside the app will be updated.
8. Signing up for the beta
If you request an invite code on mnemo-beta.web.app, the Gmail address you enter is stored on the operator's server. It is used only to issue (and re-issue) your invite code, to add you as a test user for Google sign-in, and to contact you about the beta. No name or other detail is collected. The invite code is not linked to anything the app sends later.
Mnemo 개인정보 처리방침 (체험판)
Mnemo 는 메모·사진·연락처·일정·통화 메모를 사용자의 기기 안에 두고 정리해 주는 개인용 기억 도우미 앱입니다. 이 문서는 체험판(Google Play 내부 테스트)에서 무엇이 기기 밖으로 나가고 무엇이 나가지 않는지를 설명합니다.
1. 기기 안에만 있는 것
다음은 사용자의 기기(앱 전용 저장 공간)에만 저장되며 운영자가 저장하지 않습니다(일부는 AI 처리를 위해 중계 서버를 거칩니다 — 2항 참조).
- 메모 본문, 통화 메모, 할 일, 일정, 검색어
- 사진·파일의 원본과 미리보기 (앱은 원본 파일을 복사하지 않고 위치만 기억합니다)
- 연락처 (기기 연락처에서 가져오기를 사용자가 실행한 경우에 한함)
- 사진 속 얼굴 인식 결과 (얼굴 특징값은 기기 안에서만 계산·저장되며, 백업을 포함한 어떤 경로로도 기기 밖으로 나가지 않습니다)
- 사진의 촬영 위치 좌표 자체 (좌표로 지명을 얻는 방식은 2항 참조)
- 연결한 Google·Microsoft 계정의 접근 토큰
앱을 삭제하면 위 데이터는 함께 삭제됩니다.
2. AI 처리와 지명 변환을 위해 기기 밖으로 나가는 것
요약·분류·검색·답변 생성 같은 AI 기능을 사용할 때, 그 기능에 필요한 텍스트와 사진(축소본)이 운영자의 중계 서버를 거쳐 OpenAI 의 API 로 전송됩니다.
기능에 따라 가져온 연락처의 이름·소속 등 항목, 캘린더 일정, 가져온 이메일 본문, 첨부한 파일에서 추출한 텍스트, 검색어가 여기에 포함될 수 있습니다. 각 데이터는 해당 요청의 처리에만 쓰이며, 저장되는 곳은 사용자의 기기뿐입니다(1항).
국외 이전 고지. AI 사업자와 지명 변환 서비스가 국외에 있으므로, 개인정보 보호법 제28조의8에 따라 이전 내용을 아래와 같이 알립니다. 앱 환영 화면의 동의 체크는 이 이전에 대한 동의입니다. AI 기능을 쓰지 않고 앱을 삭제하면 동의를 철회할 수 있으며, 이 동의 없이는 AI 기능을 제공할 수 없습니다.

이전 시기는 사용자가 해당 기능을 쓰는 순간이며, 운영자의 중계 서버를 거쳐 암호화된 연결(HTTPS)로 전송됩니다.
추가한 사진에 촬영 위치 좌표(EXIF)가 들어 있으면, 그 좌표만 같은 중계 서버를 거쳐 LocationIQ 로 전송되어 지명(예: "부산광역시, 대한민국")으로 바뀝니다. 앱은 기기의 현재 위치를 읽지 않으며, 사진 파일 안에 이미 있는 값만 씁니다. 이 기능에는 켜고 끄는 설정이 없고, 좌표가 없는 사진은 아무것도 전송되지 않습니다.
- 중계 서버는 전송 내용(텍스트·사진·좌표)을 저장하거나 기록하지 않습니다. 서버에 남는 것은 호출 종류(대화·사진·임베딩·지명), 횟수, 토큰 수뿐이며 익명 번호(예: A01)별로 집계됩니다.
- 설치는 무작위 토큰으로만 식별되고, 이 토큰은 초대 코드·이메일·이름과 연결되지 않습니다.
- OpenAI 는 API 로 받은 데이터를 모델 학습에 쓰지 않으며, 자사 정책에 따라 처리합니다 (openai.com/policies). LocationIQ 는 좌표를 자사 정책(locationiq.com/privacy)에 따라 처리합니다.
- AI 기능을 쓰지 않고 좌표가 있는 사진을 추가하지 않으면 아무것도 전송되지 않습니다.
3. 사용 통계와 오류 보고
앱 개선을 위해 다음을 익명으로 수집합니다. 메모·이름·검색어 등 내용은 포함되지 않습니다.
- 사용 통계 (Firebase Analytics): 어떤 기능을 몇 번 썼는지 (예: 검색 시작, 할 일 완료). 광고 식별자는 수집하지 않습니다.
- 오류 보고 (Firebase Crashlytics): 앱이 멈췄을 때의 오류 종류, 코드 위치, 앱 버전, 기기 모델. 오류 메시지에 사용자 내용이 섞여 나가지 않도록 앱이 걸러서 보냅니다.
4. 사용자가 선택해서 연결하는 외부 계정
연결은 선택 사항이며, 연결해도 받아온 데이터는 기기에만 저장됩니다.
- Google: Gmail 읽기(메일 가져오기), 캘린더 일정 읽기·쓰기, Google Drive (백업 — 사용자 본인의 Drive 에 저장, 사진 원본은 백업되지 않음), 계정 이메일 주소
- Microsoft: Outlook 메일 읽기, 캘린더 일정 읽기·쓰기
연결 해제는 앱 설정 또는 각 계정의 보안 설정에서 할 수 있습니다.
5. 앱 권한
- 연락처 읽기: 사용자가 "연락처 가져오기"를 실행할 때만 사용
- 사진·파일: 사용자가 사진이나 파일을 메모에 붙일 때만 사용
- 사진 속 위치 정보(미디어 위치): 앱 안에서 고른 사진에 들어 있는 촬영 위치만 읽어 지명으로 바꿉니다(2항). 기기의 현재 위치는 읽지 않습니다.
- 알림·정확한 알람·부팅 완료: 일정 미리 알림을 제때 띄우기 위해 사용
- 인터넷: 2~4 항의 전송에 사용
6. 보관과 삭제
- 기기 안 데이터: 앱 삭제 시 삭제. Drive 백업은 사용자가 Drive 에서 직접 삭제.
- 서버의 익명 사용 집계: 체험 종료 후 90일 안에 삭제.
- 신청 시 입력한 이메일 주소(8항): 체험 종료 후 90일 안에, 또는 요청 시 삭제.

7. 기타
- 이 앱은 만 14세 미만을 대상으로 하지 않습니다.
- 방침이 바뀌면 이 페이지와 앱 안 고지 문구를 갱신합니다.
8. 체험판 신청
mnemo-beta.web.app 에서 초대 코드를 신청하면 입력한 Gmail 주소가 운영자의 서버에 저장됩니다. 이 주소는 초대 코드 발급(재발급), Google 로그인 테스트 사용자 등록, 체험 관련 연락에만 쓰이며, 이름 등 다른 정보는 받지 않습니다. 초대 코드는 앱이 이후에 보내는 어떤 내용과도 연결되지 않습니다.
